September 10 is national suicide prevention day. There are three statistics surrounding suicide that I want to point out:

1.) In 2017, there were an estimated 1,400,000 suicide attempts

2.) In 2017, 47,173 Americans died by suicide

And this last one is incredibly important

3.) 80% -90% of people that seek treatment for depression are treated successfully using therapy and/or medication

Those first two statistics are something we shouldn't accept or settle for. We need to keep the dialogue open, keep reaching out to those around us, and help the hurting get the help they need.
